Dr. Carol A. Somersille
Dr. Somersille comes from a long line of women dedicated to addressing woman’s issues–from her great-grandmother who was a rural midwife to her mother, an attorney, who advocated policy changes for women and children.
My name is Martha Puentes. I was born in Colombia, and came to United States in 1987. Since then, I trained at Bryman College to be a Medical Assistant, which I really love and enjoy doing. I’ve been married for 29 years to a wonderful husband and have two children. My oldest son graduated from UCD’s and my youngest son is in the 11th grade. When I joined Dr. Carol A. Somersille’s practice in 2005, I never knew the impact I would have being a partner in womens’ lives, it has been a great experience.
After receiving my Certified Medical Assistant degree (CMA) from Carrington College, I began working in the medical field. My work has great significance to me because I love helping people. I was born and grew up in Tehran, Iran. I received my bachelor’s degree in science from Tehran University and started working at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults. I later moved to the United States and settled in Northern California’s South Bay. I have a son who is in college and loves science as well as basketball. My husband and I enjoy dancing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with our friends and families.
